Extra chairs were needed at the Leap Partner Forum on June 8th as over 70 people gathered in person to reconnect and forge new partnerships.
Guest speaker Phil Smith Executive Director of Partnerships at Sport England, gave an engaging presentation which covered progress on Uniting the Movement so far, what actions Sport England are taking now and what the future holds.
Mark Ormerod, Leap CEO commented,
“It was great to hear directly from Phil Smith that Leap’s strategic direction is so closely aligned to Sport England’s. As the Covid pandemic subsides, the cost of living crisis adds yet another challenge to people most in need of help, and people’s good health remains paramount to us. Along with our partners we will work tirelessly ensuring
regular movement and activity are entitlements that are encouraged and open to all our residents. The inequalities in activity levels and consequently wellbeing and life expectancy based on wealth, ethnicity and disability are not acceptable and in some cases are intensifying, with our partners from national to local we will seek to level up and address these issues head on”
Chris Gregory, Head of Strategic Relationships at Leap added,
“It was great to see so many of our partners back in one room and thank them for the amazing work they have done to keep and start people moving over the last few years. The number and breadth of partners who attended is testament to the collaborative spirit we have across Bucks and MK”.
