We’re pleased to announce the appointment of two new members to the Leap board, and at the same time we say farewell and thank you to two existing board members and our Chairman who has completed his maximum permitted term.
Following an open recruitment process we’ve recruited two new board members, alongside a new Chair to join our committed and hardworking board.
Outgoing members Stewart George and Adrian Christy have provided expert and strategic guidance over a number of years, alongside Chair Roger Fennemore MBE who will also step down at the end of May after serving the maximum term of 10 years.
Director of Leap, Mark Ormerod paid tribute to the group.
“All three board members have made an immeasurable impact to sport and physical activity in Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes. Stewart George championing our work with public health, Adrian Christy connecting us to the world of national governing bodies of sport and Roger Fennemore helping us commercialise and focusing the organisation on sustainability. Through their time with us Leap has had unprecedented success, topping the Active People Survey with the highest sports participation in England for both young people and adults”.
After a rigorous recruitment process, Deputy Chair Sue Imbriano will succeed Roger Fennemore as Chair of the Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes Sport and Activity Partnership (operating as Leap).
Former Director of Education, and subsequently Children and Young People’s Services at Buckinghamshire County Council, Sue brings a wealth of expertise.
Passionate about all children and young people having opportunities to achieve the very best outcomes, Sue has long been a champion of the importance of physical activity and sport in young people’s physical and emotional development.
Joining Sue and the existing board to help us achieve our goals are Amanda Wright and Yvette Thomas.
Amanda brings 30 years of experience in graphic design and brand development. Amanda’s extensive creative skills and passion for positive client relationships has led her to work with household names such as Virgin, Wickes, Canon and Morrisons, and locally ITAB and Geoffrey Leaver.
Founding Director of Yellow Yoyo, a futures, strategy and design business based in Milton Keynes, Amanda will be an exceptional addition to the Leap board, helping to guide the Leap brand and communications in order to meet our objectives.
Yvette joins the board from an Education and Local Authority background, with vast experience in bid writing and project management.
Driven to see a fairer society, Yvette is passionate about ensuring equality of opportunity and coupled with her knowledge of local communities will support Leap to help engage inactive residents from under represented groups.
Commenting on the new board appointments, Mark Ormerod added,
“We had a fantastic response to our board member advertisements and are delighted that Amanda and Yvette will be joining the board to provide strategic direction, advice, guidance and advocacy for the core team and wider partnership as we embark on our new 2018-2022 strategy, aiming to improve lives through physical activity and sport.”
